ABOUT

Amal is a 25-year-old author, wife and mother of two from Gaza, Palestine. Diaries the Screens Never Told is her first book.

When the war began, Amal was twenty-two, a young mother studying optometry at university. Within weeks, her home was demolished and her family was forced to flee. Her husband, Mo’men, was wounded by a missile, and it fell to Amal to provide for her family. Her two sisters were martyred, leaving her the only daughter in her family. Her parents and her parents-in-law are elderly, and they rely on her too.

Struggle has followed struggle, and still her strength, faith and hope hold. Her daughters, Sham and Razan, are growing up through all of it, and Amal has kept going for them.

Diaries the Screens Never Told is her account in her own words, written from the middle of it and based on her diary entries and photographs.
